If you have a problem with dust in your home, then you need to address the issue of dust mites. These microscopic creatures can create havoc for those individuals allergic to dust mites. Dust mite control is of primary importance if you have a dust mite allergy. By reducing house dust mites, you can achieve some relief of allergy symptoms. To obtain optimal dust mite control, it is important to find where dust mites live and accumulate.

Interestingly, one of the leading causes of indoor allergies is the house dust mite. The dust mite is a microscopic organism related to the spider. The first step in dust mite control is to identify where dust mites thrive. They live in mattresses, box springs, curtains, upholstered furniture, and carpeting. It is not the dust mite itself which produces an allergic response. Dust mites eat flaked-off dead human skin cells. The feces of the dust mite contain the protein which then provokes the allergic reaction. People who are allergic to dust mites can show symptoms of nasal congestion and sinusitis which may lead to sinus infections. Dust mite control is also important for allergen avoidance in the home. By eliminating the areas where dust mites can live, an allergy-free home can be achieved.

You can achieve optimal allergen avoidance by combining dust mite control measures. Focus on making an allergy-free bedroom. Use dust mite encasings on the mattress, box spring, and pillow. Dust mite bedding is used to prevent dust mites from escaping. Purchase a dust mite cover in the same size as bed sheets. There are many brands of dust mite encasements on the market that are very comfortable. It is important to use dust mite bedding on all the beds in the home for maximum dust mite control. These dust mite covers are not difficult to put on. They have a zipper on the side so that they enclose the mattress or box spring entirely. We have used our current dust mite bedding for the past 3 years. It is of primary importance if you have a dust mite allergy. By reducing house dust mites you can achieve some allergy relief.

Keep window treatments very simple. Vertical shades or blinds work best as they are easily damp cleaned. Carpet can harbor dust mites so consider removing the carpeting in your bedroom and use a solid surface such as tile, vinyl, or hardwood flooring. Area rugs can be put in for comfort and then removed and cleaned often. Dust mite control can help to alleviate allergy symptoms for people with dust mite allergy.
