   Staff Motivation at Work

14 Mar 2008 02:11:36
| Cheow Yu Yuan

To have happy and loyal employees who give 110% during work will definitely be part of your company success. But to have employees who are willing to die for your company is not an easy task. And by shouting at them when they make mistakes or establishing a strict and serious Employer-Employee barrier will not going to help you to gain the trust and loyalty of your employees. I will share with you 6 ways to keep the motivation of your staffs at the best: 1) Do not reprimand them for making mistakes, because mistakes will definitely be made. Encourage them to try out new things and do not fear making mistakes. Only by failing will you learn new things.

2) Celebrate small success. Offer appreciation to your staff even only minor success has been achieved. A simple "Thank You" will work wonders for your staff, and boost their self-esteem.

3) Destroy the Employer-Employee barrier. Bring them out for lunch and have outing like once a month so as to create rapport with your staffs. Destroy the layer and layer of management, nothing slow a company down faster than bureaucracy.

4) Encourage a boundary-less learning culture in your company by being open to feedbacks. Allow your staffs to contact you directly for any feedbacks. This will create motivation and channels energy in the directions that will help an organization to succeed.

5) Encourage them to have coffee breaks in between working hours so as to serve well as a break from stress. This will serve as a good refresher.

6) Implement a flexible working attitude in your company. Do not starts reprimand your staffs when they are late for half an hour. Instead be concerned by asking them if everything is all right. Take notice when an employee puts in extra working hours at work. Give them extra off for their efforts.
