Pre Network Marketing: Develop Your Reason

14 Mar 2008 02:10:56
| David Weeks

Over the years, I have failed at network marketing.Or did I really fail? I don't look at it as failing. How I look at it is, I have learned one thousand ways not to do it.Exaggerating a bit with the one thousand, of course. What I have learned the most from network marketing in the past is that as a result of failures from many, most people said "Hey, network marketing doesn't work", so they end up quitting in frustration never to return again. Believe me, I have done the same. But I also knew that network marketing works, I thought I didn't know how to make network marketing work. It doesn't matter what network marketing company you belong to.You choose one that suits you. However, without the proper training and solid duplication techniques, your business will not grow. If you have ever been in network marketing before, perhaps it looked alot like this. I remember when I first learned of network marketing and how you can generate aresidual income over time with consistent effort, my eyes lit up real bright and all I could think of was the possibilities it could do for my life. As I joined this network marketing company and many others thereafter, I was excited and the people around me were excited. Then over time, the excitement wore off. The $50 business that I joined was being treated like a $50 business by me instead of a possible multimillion dollar business. I gradually lost interest, put it on the backburner and eventually forgot about it and moved onto my job. The reason why I failed is because I didn't have a solid reason why I was doing this. I mean, it looked great. I thought about the money part of it. But I had never thought about what it could really do for me, and that is TIME FREEDOM. This reason became clearer to me over time after working jobs for low pay and being tied down to a job just to pay the bills. The second reason why I failed is because I didn't try. The third reason why I failed, I didn't really know how to build this business nor was I properly trained. So I used the word failed.I failed to understand what I was doing until I develop a more consistent approach and understanding of the network marketing business. However, until you develop your reason, in my case it became TIME FREEDOM, none of it matters. Develop your reason first. When you do, you will do what it takes to build it successfully. Types of reasons to consider when deciding to get into network marketing: 1.Time Freedom 2.Tired of the Job 3.More Money 4.Travel 5.Residual Income 6.Extra Income Just to name a few.

Phase 1:Pre Network Marketing: Gather Information

After you have finally developed your reason and you are now ready to go forward innetwork marketing, you need to gather all of the information needed to make a well informed decision before going into the network marketing business. So what information do I need? Well, what type of business do I want to pursue. The list is endless. My personal preference is health and wellness. If health and wellness is not your cup of tea, I would recommend doing your research on network marketing companies through the Direct Selling Association (dsa.org) to find out the number of network marketing companies that are available and just browse through the list This list will give you the type of products or services these companies offer. The next step in gathering information is to go to a bookstore in your local area, (Barnes & Noble) or the like, and head to the business section. In the business section, look for books onnetwork marketing and purchase them. Learn all you can about this business through other successful peoples eyes so you have a clearer understanding of how other people have built their organizations. Reading is a vital part to success in this business as with any other occupation. The more you read, the more confidence you build and the more skills you aquire.
