| Robin Richmond

It may be the end of summer and dangerously close to the slippery slope that leads to dark nights and cold weather but that doesn’t mean you can’t have any fun between now and Christmas! This Autumn sees a tremendous range of events and shows across the UK that will keep even the most depressed of summer sun lovers happily occupied.

1. Little Britain Live in Brighton

Little Britain is the BBC comedy show that has taken the nation by storm. Starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams this TV hit can now be enjoyed live with team coming together in this tremendously entertaining stage show. Characters such as incomprehensible renegade teenager Vicky Pollard and the repulsively spoilt “Bubbles” are just two of the many famous characters developed by the wonderfully talented duo. Although showing across the UK throughout 2005, short break specialists http://www.superbreak.com have some excellent deals on ticket + hotel packages for the shows Brighton dates.

2. The London International Horse Show

Providing a contrast to the comedy of Little Britain, the London International Horse Show – Olympia - is known throughout the world for its unique combination of exciting sporting action and festival atmosphere. Olympia runs from 13th – 19th December and from a sporting perspective has several world class show jumping and dressage events to chose from. The week will also see a number of spectacular shows, each culminating in what is known as the “Grande Finale”. Often described as the “Greatest Christmas show on Earth” this years Grand Finale is “A Clown’s Christmas”. This wonderful show sees the audience enjoy the riders and horses clashing with the shows resident group of clowns in a procession based around a Christmas theme.

3. The Oz Clarke Wine Experience 2005

For the connoisseurs of wine out there an ideal short break opportunity may well be attending the Oz Clarke Wine Experience at Vinopolis in London. Widely regarded as one of the world’s leading wine experts, Mr. Clarke is renowned for his quick wit and unorthodox approach to wine tasting. Having written extensively on the subject and winning countless awards across the world Oz’s wine tasting experience is being held at Vinopolis, the wine tasting visitor attraction in London’s vibrant Bankside. The excellent package includes tasting and discussion on 5 wines and then a ticket to the classic Vinopolis Tour and a further 5 wine tastings.

4. Murder Mystery Weekend - Glasgow

While many fans of the popular 90’s television series “Taggart” may be slightly put off by the title of this paragraph the author can assure you that the chances of ironically dieing on one of these trips is minimal. Murder Mystery weekends are great fun and provide a great opportunity to test your sleuthing skills as one of the characters in the whodunit mystery. Superbreak.com has some great accommodation plus ticket packages for these intriguing nights – just make sure you sleep with the light on.

5. Alton Towers 2 for 1 tickets

Gone are the days when British theme park enthusiasts had to cast a jealous eye across the pond to America’s giant parks. At the forefront of theme park technology for the past 10 years Alton Towers has continually set the standards for new thrilling rides. From the first-ever vertical drop roller coaster, Oblivion to the world’s first “flying roller coaster” with Air, Alton Towers has created a park that compares to any across the world. The good news for thrill seekers is that throughout September there are some amazing deals that allow you to pay for one day and receive a two day pass for the park.
