Body language - what is she really saying?

08 Mar 2008 02:02:35
| Kimberly Webb

It has happened to everyone. Dinner was great and you had an amazing conversation, but then at the end of the date you don't even get a peck on the cheek. Was she not into you? How can you really tell? If you understand body language, you would know within the first five minutes of the date whether she likes you or not. And you don't have to have a degree in psychology to figure it out either.

First thing you have to understand is that most people don't pay any attention to their body language. It's an involuntary reaction that is the result of hormones. So no matter what her words are saying, her body may be saying something completely different. It's your job to listen. For example, you have been at the restaurant for five minutes and you are discussing some random topic, now look her directly in the eye and note her reaction. Does she look right back or you, or does she divert her eyes elsewhere? Eye contact is one of the major body signs that show a person is interested in you. If they like you and have an interest in what you are saying, their eyes will be focused on yours. Eye contact should be the first thing you notice whenever you meet anyone. It could be a dead giveaway that the girl at Starbucks really does like you.

Second note where her hands are. When people are sexually attracted to another person they will subconsciously touch their own body parts that they think are sexually attractive, to bring attention to them. She may be biting her lip or leaning forward to enhance her cleavage. It could be something very subtle like scratching her arm and inadvertently rubbing her breasts. If you have been dating for a while, she may be bolder and find ways to touch you during the conversation. She could brush against your hand or put her hand on your knee while you talk, all of which mean that she is into you.

If you pay attention to these two body clues, you will be able to make the most out of each and every date. If the feeling is not mutual don't order dessert and cut the evening short. You will have much better luck going to Starbucks to find that girl that was into you.
