Motorcycle Misfits - The Unwanted Riders

08 Mar 2008 12:28:06
| Maricon Williams

When we are off the road, we learn to stereotype motorcycle drivers. Some are lousy, some good, others not so good, a number are excellent while the rest are misfits. How we wish we can get rid of them...

It only takes one reckless driver to doom an innocent passerby or rider. Same number can also cause significant pandemonium.

Misfits are everywhere. They cause not only heavy traffic but overwhelming injuries and countless deaths. Let us count the ways of how we abhor misfits...

Unlicensed minors are rampant in the streets. They drive to impress their peers or their pretty young babes. For the sake of being accepted, being admired, they bend the rules. Sometimes, not contented of bending, they result to breaking them.

Reckless and unskilled riders are also a bother. You can go to the nearest police station and for sure, you will find out that the reports are full of reckless imprudence, some of which result to homicide. Unskilled riders are as dangerous as the first ones. Why? This is because if you do know what to do at a given circumstance, chances are you will likely be mistaken. You can not just rely on pure luck. It's different and quite dangerous when life can be at stake.

Another group of misfits are those who are drunkard and drug dependents. They create their own illusion and choose to dwell on it. Self-control and rationalization - these are the qualities they lack. Usually, they end up behind bars to suffer their mischief. But mostly, they end up cold and lifeless in morgues.

All sorts of law breakers - that's where all others fall - those who are not licensed to drive, those who are not wearing the prescribed motorcycle accessories, those who ride an unlicensed bike and a lot more. They are bunches of misfits who are condemned for spreading ill-fate in the streets as well as to the society.

These persons should not be riding. They must not be allowed to roam on the streets. This aim must be vicariously addressed. Higher on the list are the persons concerned. If you think you are incapacitated to ride, just press the imaginary pause button within you. Those who are under the influence of alcohol can just enjoy a good nap instead of strolling. Those minors can wait for their right time. And those who are unskilled can master the craft of riding. Practice and practice - that's the key. If you feel like being a dare-devil, stay home and focus on some productive things. You might end up in a totally devastating plight.

Parents, guardians and the authorities are next in line. They need to acknowledge the danger of having their children, ward or subject of attention before they can appreciate prevention.
