   Instant Power

Most people "spend" their lives without really experiencing much of it. They miss most of it because they are always in their thoughts—about the past or future—rather than experiencing life directly. Of course sometimes it is necessary to think about the past to retrieve information, and sometimes it is necessary to think about the future to plan ahead. However thinking too much about the past is futile because it is done with. Thinking too much about the future is futile because it hasn’t arrived yet. To feel in control, it is better to concern yourself with what you have control over. You have direct control only over your present moment. If you always handle the present moment as best you can, then you ensure your best possible future.

If we define power as the ability to take action, then thinking too much about the past or future is actually a disempowering process, because by making available less mental and physical resources for the present moment you reduce your ability to take action .

Therefore it is possible to instantly increase your personal power by being attentive to the present moment. Living mainly in the present moment is actually a freeing process. The objective is not so much about restricting yourself to the present moment, but about freeing yourself from past and future thoughts, and blocking off distractions from the past or future from adversely affecting the quality of your present moment experience or performance. So whenever you find that you are thinking too much about the past or future, just gently free yourself from these thoughts. Through continual freeing, you increase personal power and freedom in the present moment. http://www.pathwaysofpower.com
