   How to DISCOVER your POTENTIALS

24 Feb 2008 12:33:29
| Larry Moore

By Larry C. Moore While still in bed on a Saturday morning, My pops, who was to travel early that morning came into my room and slipped N2000.00 into my bible. He couldn't wake me up and assumed that since I read my bible every morning, I will find the sum and a note written for its purpose. Days went by and for two occasions I sent back the lady who supplies up Fura (cow milk), for our puppies, saying there was no money for any. A week later, pops came back and met the puppies in bad shape. Well, the money was there but it was not discovered and that defeated its aim. In the same vein, the industry in you will serve no purpose if you don't discover its manufacturing principles. Potentials are hidden skills in you that are peculiar to you, which help you perform at your best. If I had seen the money, which was close to "hidden", I would have bought milk for the puppies. This would have saved me some stress. Now, what you have which you are ignorant of will never serve its purpose. This includes the hidden skills in you, longing for recognition. Two challenges are encountered under the discovery of potentials; one is that the majority believe that they have nothing of such great importance in them, hence are unfortunate. Secondly most people see it as a miracle, luck or privilege to discover and be able to use these potentials. The first case needs maximum attention because you cannot search for something your don't believe exists. But consider this "for God to create you in his image he must have deposited a fraction of his abilities in you - he can only give you what he has". The hand of God does not have time to mould a "nobody". Every person is created for a purpose. If this is true, do you still think that God, in his infinite mercies, will send you on an errand without making provisions for you? Now lets define a creature - like you. A creature is a biological machine with spiritual energy manufactured to meet certain needs. Graham Bell, Henry ford and Thomas Edison invented the telephone, Diesel engine automobile and electric lamp respectively not because they needed an artifact or some junks to keep in a museum but because they wanted their inventions to solve problem. If men of little wisdom can invent for a reason, is God - infinite intelligence - not well over the status of being considered a creator with no purpose? My friend, the earlier you believe you are packaged, signed, sealed and delivered to the world the better for you. Now the big question is "what am I packaged for" you will agree with me that there are only two parties who knows what a package contains. First to know is the packager and second after is the pack. The medium of transport never knows. Now lets look at the packager as God, you as the pack and the medium as your parents. The last party "who might know" will be he, who is to receive the package. Yes "who might know" in quote because, if the package is not opened the receiver will never know. The illustration in the last paragraph is designed to help you see what it takes to discover your potential hence purpose in life. The only legal way to do that is by having an intimate relationship or at least a dialogue with God (the packager). God in a haste to prove himself and show his mercies goes to work each time we commit him to a project already considered unrealistic by the world. All you need is a burning desire and a definite plan directed towards glorifying him with all your ability. Our father, need to be glorified. But what we do today is just to praise him, Myles Munroe said, "you start glorifying God when you start maximizing your potentials". How will you feel when your invention is not being used for its purpose. God is more interested in the discovery and usage of your potentials than all your loved ones put together. He created you, he wants to use you but first you have to ask Him in faith. Notwithstanding God's role, you have a role to play as the pack. If not for anything, you need to ensure you don't get torn or worn out before your contents is delivered. Beside that, often we say "Heaven help those who help themselves". Helping yourself discover your potentials involves the use of will power, persistence, passion, desire, faith, enthusiasm, the acquisition of specialized knowledge and self confidence to overcome the perceived limitations of the flesh. Discoveries are projects that require maximum concentration. If you don't concentrate with focus you will miss so many details. Details are important clues for any investigation or discovery. Most scientific discoveries are successfully applied today because a few persons refused to ignore details or accept defeat. Observe what interests you a lot - your hobbies, what distinguishes you from the masses, where is your passion? What can you give out freely without counting a loss? Because God gave you this thing freely - take note, when you find it - you will never worry over how careless or wasteful you are over it. Back to the illustration, if for any reason the package is not opened or its content not fully consumed and it expires (at death) the receiver will only help in throwing it into the waste bin (Grave). Finally, before you embark on this journey keep this quote from a friend in mind. He said "don't allow your potential to serve as a fertilizer to the cemetery". Keep flying high!
