Everything New is Old Again? By Neil Morrison a writer for

Have you noticed (well for everyone born before 1980) that we
are back in 1974 fashion wise? The hottest fashions are clever
tees and corduroy pants. The hottest sports are skateboarding
and surfing and the hottest films are teen slasher movies that
are a throw back to Friday the 13th and Halloween.
It seems that everything new is old again. The hottest car to
hit the market this year is the Ford Mustang which looks an
awful lot like the fastbacks of the 1970's and that design
choice is no mistake. The new fall colors are Browns, Oranges
and any “earth” tone you can think of including teal?
I am glad to see the 70's come around again. It was a great time
for choice, freedom, music, fun, friendship. Don’t get me wrong,
it did have its problems. The country was knee deep in a war
that not many approved of and most questioned why we were
sending our young men to fight, there was a shortage of oil and
gas prices were through the roof, there were several political
scandals that shook our faith in government, Iran was a country
headed by Islamic militant extremists looking to cause chaos in
the world....wait a minute maybe it is still 1974!
The good news is it is once again the “Me” generation. The bad
news is the 80’s are coming soon with a vengeance. Make way for
high hair and big shoulder pads!
