A couple of days ago, I wrote lengthily enough about new
marketing sensation, The Rich Jerk. If you’ll recall, at the
time, I had not read the book in question and was about to go
out and buy it for the sum of $97. As promised, I put up the
dough and downloaded the 40 something page work, and here is my
review.
Incredible amounts of hype and pr have made it virtually
impossible to come across a negative opinion of the Rich Jerk’s
ebook «Making Money on the Internet is Easy». From Yahoo News to
forums, articles, reviews, you name it, it all points in one
direction, The Rich Jerk is the real deal. Hmm, but is that the
whole truth and nothing but the truth?
Well sorta… After all that hype, I was thinking that I would
fall out of my chair, but my bottom stayed well in place. Did I
enjoy the book? Yes. Did I learn stuff? Yes. Was I completely
blown away with the material, I have to say not really…
On the other hand, there aren’t that many so-called secrets
going around out there. Any secret worth the breath its
whispered in can’t be too much of a secret, especially on the
internet…
Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten what I said, I will launch a
marketing offensive around the Rich Jerk’s ebook, «Making Money
on the Internet is Easy», I’ll get to that in a minute, after I
get the review out of the way.
What wasn’t so good about the Rich Jerk was that it promised no
filler and no fluff. It mostly stays true to this promise, but
the two last chapters were of no use to me. The last chapter is
about very basic webwork that you could find anywhere for free.
The chapter before that is about investing your money. The
places he recommends are sketchy or seem that way to me and I
wouldn’t throw a cent at them under any circumstance. Any
legitimate 20% a month compound interest investment that had
been performing that way for 3 years or more is not going to be
such a well kept secret…
The chapter on Ebay was not of interest to me either. The Rich
Jerk does provide you with the best sources for drop shipping
and prices but other than that, the advice is pretty generic,
and I don’t need anyone to come and tell me things that seem
painfully obvious, like not sending money to vendors in foreign
countries by using Western Union, is anyone still that naïve? In
all fairness, I didn’t buy the book to read about Ebay, but
people who are starting out in that market will save themselves
some time by reading the material.
I do have good things to say about the Rich Jerk though. Inside
is a 2 page section on writing sales letters and a two page
example of a sales letter written following those guidelines.
Read it and you should never have to buy any of those fancy 200
page programs on writing a sales letter, it would be a waste of
time.
Next up, SEO. Did I learn anything here? Yes I did. Not ton’s
but enough to make my purchase worthwhile. I’m sure that even
one of the tricks applied properly would pay for the ebook in no
time flat… If you’re willing to delve into the world of black
hat SEO, you could benefit very fast from buying the book. How
about Adsense and Adwords? Yep. In fact, that is the most useful
part of the book in my opinion. There is no time wasting and no
beating around the bush, its straight up do this, then do that,
then watch the money come pouring in, and I have to say, yes it
works.
In fact I truly believe that applying the simple model the Rich
Jerk describes for making money with Adwords and Adsense would
be amongst the most solid choices a budding entrepreneur could
make in starting a new business on the internet with the goal of
making money. And another technique or two would do the job just
fine also.
So what’s my conclusion on the Rich Jerk? I expected more but
still got a lot for the price, so yes it was worth it.
All in all the most positive thing about it was that it cuts
right through the mumbo jumbo and tells you exactly what you
have to do, in simple steps, to be successful in your online
marketing ventures, period.
Will you become rich by just reading the book? Undoubtedly not.
Will you become rich by reading it and applying the techniques
described within? You stand more than a fighting chance, in fact
if you follow the simple instructions, I’ll be tempted to say
yes, you will make money and may in fact become «rich».
As far as I’m concerned, the right knowledge will save you up to
years of research and trial and error. I’ve bought many books
from the «gurus» and none of them have come close to being as
valuable resource as the Rich Jerk’s book was. Final verdict:
recommended.
Now for my marketing offensive. As I mentioned previously, I’m
going to set up a site to sell the Rich Jerk’s ebook. It will
not be the generic review + affiliate rebate site, its going to
go the whole ten yards. And I will put into effect some of the
strategies elicited by the Rich Jerk himself.
Stay tuned, you may see success in the making. Next up I’m going
to tell you exactly what my diabolical little plan is, in the
next exciting edition of The Rich Jerk: a Marketing Odyssey.
P.S. If you haven't read the Rich Jerk's sales letter, find it
here. If you go and buy the ebook following this link, you will
still be eligible to receive the 100% rebate i will soon
be offering...
