Do you want to simplify the college admission process? If you are going through it I know I would hear a resounding yes. I had to go through it once, and I can tell you that it is not the easiest or most exciting thing to do. I played sports and high school and wanted to be recruited to play in college. However, I didn't have many opportunities to show the colleges who I really was.
Here is the secret world of college recruitment. A recruiter from a school of higher education travels around the states visiting high school state tournaments. Because my team was not often in the limelight of the post season action I had to count on my coach and who she knew in order to be made known. To this day I only wish it would have been possible for me to take control of the recruiting process instead of having to rely on only my coaches contacts.
Good athletes who standout have coaches who find them. I had to do my own search to find a college that was proper for me. looked at the different colleges around the state after being contacted by them. Thankfully, my coach was best friends with the coach at a junior college that was the best in their division.
I lucked out and found a skillful junior college to play for, but even though I did get to play for that college, I still think about what could have happened if I had a college search tool available to me or a place that I could put all the information about me in order to showcase my talents both on and off of the court.
I was fortunate enough to keep playing after I finished with that junior college for a university up in Alaska. How happy I was that I got a full-ride college scholarship for playing there. It wasn't easy for them to find me though, and perhaps I could have even landed a bigger and more prestigious university if I was able to better showcase my abilities.
I must make it known if I haven't already that the process that coaches and colleges go through to recruit players is extremely difficult and takes alot of time. They go out searching the country for players that they can recruit to their team. This costs them time and money. Even when they don't travel, they are at home trying to find players. I would offer help to my coach, the year after I finished playing. I had to fill and address envelopes to to nearly every coach in America asking if they had any people available. What a awful waste of paper.
Well now there is something much better, something that is revolutionizing the college admissions process. A new website that allows students to control the whole admissions process has been made. Power is shifting from the admissions officer to the student and things couldn't look brighter for prospective college students. Now my old coach will be able to view athletes own personal highlight videos and recruit those that will best fit the teams program.
