   Building Your E-Mail List

18 Feb 2008 04:33:25
| Roy J. Keller

If you have an online business or plan to start one in the near future then you more than likely know the importance of "Building Your E-Mail List." However you may need to hear some tips on just how to do this. It is common knowledge that you must build the traffic coming to your website to increase sales but it is your e-mail list that will bring you the most loyal and repeat customers. Take a look at the tips that I have listed in this article and see how many that you can employ in your efforts to build your e-mail list.

My very first suggestion is that you have a "FREE E-Zine" that your visitors can subscribe to by entering their first name and e-mail address. You may even try offering a free gift just for them signing up for your free e-zine. Remember to let those signing up know that they may opt-out at anytime with one single click. Also be sure to keep your e-zine published on a regular and steady schedule. Keep your articles interesting and insert "free" training, so as to entice those readers looking to start their own business into joining your affiliate programs and earning money for themselves, and you.

Offer a "Free Members Only" section to your website that requires them to sign-up for a user name and password. Make the members only area attractive with offers of "free" e-books, members only contests, free e-mail consulting, and a free affiliate program. Any one of these attractive offers could also be offered by itself with the name and e-mail sign-up method.

Run an interactive poll on your site and ask your visitors to e-mail you with their vote and opinions. Always offer a free gift for filling out a survey. To get their free gift they must give you a valid e-mail address so you can send them the download link. You could also offer some sort of online service for free, and to receive this free service of course they need to fill out a contact information form.

Ask your visitors to sign your online guest book, and remind them to fill out their contact information form so they can be e-mailed the link to their free gift.

Keep in mind that anytime that you ask any visitor for their e-mail address it will not always be easy to get it. As you can see with nearly all the tips there is a free item of some sort attached. Most people want something for free since they are giving you their personal information. You will also need to make the visitors feel comfortable that you will keep their name and e-mail to yourself and not share it, rent it or sell it. As suggested in this article your e-zine should be free and you should offer free training in your e-zine. Knowledge is a powerful tool in our world and if you are willing to give it away for free people will be happy to take it. Just be real, fair, and truthful while being sure that your free training will be a benefit to your readers and you will build your list faster than you can imagine.
