Learning: Managing Time and Setting Priorities

No doubt, this question worries almost every student. The problem is that we want to do too much. We want to succeed in studying, get done with all our academic assignments, devote enough time to our hobbies, have a part time job, and still have time for fun and resting. How do we solve this problem? It is said, that time management and setting priorities will make us organized and help to accomplish as more as possible. We just need to know some peculiarities of time saving. The first advice is simple. If you have an overloaded schedule, decrease it. Don't create an impossible situation. Be realistic. Define your priorities for the day or a week and accomplish them starting form the most important things. The same thing works with the school and college. Start working on your academic papers for your top priority classes, or it might be good for you to start doing things that are interested to you and that could be done fast by you. Then you will have more time for your hard assignments. One of the most important ways to manage your time is planning. Plan your events ahead. Lots of people are using the weekly calendar. List everything you have to do there, assign your tasks for every day. Try to evaluate the time in might take you to do these tasks, and give yourself a deadline. Keep in mind that you have to include some time for resting and a few extra hours. Keep your schedule handy and refer to it often. You can mark your priorities with different colors. For example you can mark your top priorities with red marker, important ones with an orange marker, ordinary - with a blue, not important - with a green. Of course, it is up to you to decide the way of making these marks. The same method you can use with the deadlines. Just mark short term tasks with red, long term task with green or any other color you prefer. Such visual aids were proved on practice to help people ...... Try to avoid distractions and lack of focus. Don't put off important jobs, don't be overwhelmed by the situation, try to control yourself. It is important to stay in a good mood; stress is a bid distraction. Find a comfortable studying place and time, because if anything distracts you, (somebody is talking, laud music, secondary thoughts) then you probably won't do as well as you might to.
