The German domain registry DENIC has recently processed the registration of a special .de domain. With "pressious.de" the "schnappszahl" of 11,111,111 de-domains was reached. The domain holder is the owner of a printing shop in Westphalia (Germany).

The de-domain has the position as the world's favourite Country Code TLD, ahead of .uk, which has about 6 million registrations. The de-domains are also numerically stronger than nearly all the generic Top Level Domains that are used throughout the world, such as .org, .net, .info and .biz. Only one, the com-domain, with almost 70 million domains is more often registered than the de-domain.

DENIC is a cooperative with 200 members, who have registered these 11 million de-domains. One of the members is ICANN accredited registrar Secura, owner of the website domainregistry.de.

The next surprise after this is: There is a second list with deleted de-domains, which have a Pagerank equal or greater as "1". The pagerank shows how easy it is in the web to meet a website. The algorithm of the pagerank was created by Google Founder Larry Page, therefore the name "Pagerank".

The de-domain is not totally liberalized, as it seems. Foreign companies and individuals can register also de-domains and sell products and services to the attractive German market by websites, but they must have a German Admin-C. DENIC-Member and ICANN accredited registrar Secura provides automatically this German Admin-C during the registration process.
