   Wood Displays

Great for storing models, exhibits, jewelry, cosmetics, and especially collectables, wooden displays bring a certain charm to a retail establishment. Wooden display cases, shelves, baskets, crates, or hutches, bring the old world to our new senses and provide a down to earth atmosphere for the comfort seeking customer. Because wood can be manipulated by saw, drill, or machine, it is easily formed into displays of all shapes and sizes. Rosewood, maple, pine, and aspen are a few examples of woods used for such purposes. These species are then divided into hardwood and softwood categories, each having a different purpose. Hardwoods such as walnut, oak, and maple have a very defined grain pattern and appear most stunning when covered in a natural finish. Furnishings made from these woods are strong and quite heavy. Softwoods such as cedar and pine have a more simplified pattern in their grain. They are light and ideal for coupling with glass or other fragile substances. These lightweight woods are appropriately finished with oil, gloss, or lacquer, as they are more easily scratched. Though wood is great for all kinds of displays, baskets and shelves are especially nice when crafted from wood. Picture your folded sweaters on cedar shelves, or imagine those dolls or knickknacks in pine crafted wooden baskets. These kinds of displays tend to help the customer to appreciate your products before every handling them at all. Wood has the connotation of dependability and longevity, and these same virtues are sought in the retail industry. Think of all of the t-shirts advertising "est. in 1883" or "since 1900." Age, in some capacities, denotes quality. Though you do not want your wooden furniture at an age that it no longer serves its purpose well, adding some wood to your store displays will bring some strength and lasting presence to the atmosphere. Not only do these wooden displays bring a feeling of solidity, but also an inviting nature with warmth and familiarity. Homes often contain wooden cabinets or wooden furniture, so help your customers picture your products in there own home by adding more natural additions to your product environment. Wooden displays are well worth the investment. In fact, if you protect your wood and treat it well, it will never really loose an ounce of its value. Retailers have nothing to loose by bringing some elegant, old world style into their display spaces. Consider adding some wooden displays, it really makes a difference.
