Technology applied to printer hardware could be anything; the resultant quality of printing product actually depends on ink and printer paper that is used. These two elements play a vital role when it comes to producing quality results. As for inks, there is two entirely different types of ink are used in inkjet printers: Dye based and pigmented.

Dye based inks:

Dye based inks have brilliance high and enormous color range but are not light fast or enough water-fast. They are in fact slow at incisive and take about ten seconds to get dried up. They are usually superior suitable to straightforward monochrome type of printing.

Pigmented inks:

This type of inks is better waterproofed and comes with fade resistant quality. Pigmented inks are good option for color printing. The reason is that sine in color printing, various inks are mixed, and they require drying as fast as possible to avoid blurring. If in case, slow drying ink is used for color printer, the colors tend to bleed into one another before drying process is completed. The end result would be poor quality printing.

Types of ink jet cartridges:

1. Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ink cartridges

This inkjet cartridge carries the brand name of the manufacturer on it, normally the same as the printer manufacturer; for instance, Epson, Hewlett Packard, Canon, Dell, etc are recognized as "The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ink cartridges. Usually, the inkjet cartridges, which are produced by the sane dealer, are good for your printer. However, they are normally very expensive. If in case you purchase a few OEM inkjet cartridges they you would find that the expense of buying it is more expensive than the cost of printer itself!

2. Compatible ink cartridges

Compatible ink cartridges are ones, which are produced by a company other than the original printer manufacturer. This type of companies produces compatible or unbranded inkjet cartridges. There are a large number of such inkjet cartridge producers in USA. The quality of their product could differ according to the quality of ink that is actually used. Compatible inkjet cartridges are totally new, usually consistent and perform as well as brand name ink/toner cartridges. The major difference is that they are a lot cheaper then the OEM inkjet cartridges.

3. Remanufactured ink cartridges

Remanufactured inkjet cartridge is an ink cartridge that could be refilled with ink. Primarily you would only find remanufactured inkjet cartridges for Hewlett Packard, Lexmark and some of the Canon printers, as they have patented there inkjet cartridge designs. Therefore, many people select to refill their won ink cartridges, as there are refill accessible stations to do it yourself.
